Here for the people |
Vice President SpeechGood morning everyone. My name is Kyla Saade and I am running for Vice President alongside presidential candidate Connor Molloy. I believe that I am a strong candidate for this position because of all the qualities that I possess. I am honest, compassionate, hardworking, and have leadership skills. Being selected into the school and community leadership program has given me many opportunities to grow as a leader. Not only have I been in countless community service and volunteer work, I have learned to be a better leader. I learned to be confident in myself over time. Growing up, and still to this day people have always commented on my height. People have told me my height would stop me from doing certain things and made negative remarks. These comments used to bother me and I believed the things people said about me. As I got older and realized my size has never stopped me from doing anything I wanted to do and those people were wrong. I no longer let these comments get to me or put my down. As William Shakespeare said “though she be but little, she is fierce”. This is quote represents how I overcame the negative things people said to me and how I turned it into me having my confidence. I believe that that I will be able to help Americans overcome negativity and persevere because of my past experiences.
In the wise words of former President Barack Obama, “ Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we see.” As Vice President I plan to emulate this statement and help bring the people of the United States the change they wish to see in our country. I want to be able to instill happiness and trust in the people of this country and I plan to do so. I admire President Obama's diligence and drive to give the people what they want. While Obama was in office he was able to aid in bringing the high school graduation rate to a record breaking 83.2%, as Vice President I want to surpass this number and potentially reach 95% graduation in high schools across the country. Furthermore, I recognize the need to engage and inspire more young students with high school learning experiences and opportunities that coordinate closely with the individuals future goals. My actions will be done both diligently and effectively. When asked how I deal with issues and working with others in office, I often go by a quote said by Barack Obama. He says; “you have to have the confidence to have people around you who are smarter than you, or disagreed with you or have perspectives that are different than yours.” This has helped him from wasting time thinking he has reached solutions when he hadn’t. As vice president, I will imitate and mirror this tactic as a strategy to get the right jobs done in a timely fashion with my party. In 2008, the economic decline that the US faced, was destructive and worried many Americans. Obama implemented the ARRA program to help stimulate social welfare provisions, and domestic spending in education, health care, and infrastructure. In the case that an economic crash happens, I will use Obama’s tactics to rise our nation again. When Obama took office, “he recognized that No Child Left Behind Act had merit, but its execution was flawed. So, he worked with a group of Democratic and Republican Congressmen to create the Every Student Succeeds Act. This aims to increase accountability in schools and provide the necessary interventions to improve schools throughout the nation.” I will use both parties opinions and take them into consideration when making decisions of education. When dealing with the War in Afghanistan, “I believe this mission is vital to our national security interests in preventing terrorist attacks against our citizens and our nation,” Obama said. But, he added, “I do not support the idea of endless war.” As Vice President, I will want to try to end the War in Afghanistan, with as little conflict as possible. Americans should vote for me because I am the best choice for Vice President. I am a very sincere person and hard working. I also have great leadership skills which is one of my biggest strengths. The changes I want to make and will make as your Vice President will be to make the changes that the people want. Thank you. |
President SpeechGood morning my fellow Americans. My name is Connor Molloy and I am running to be your next President of the United States. I believe I possess the qualities and character traits necessary to lead this country towards the goals we all wish to achieve. I am honest, diligent, and responsible. Being named an All-Conference football player is a testament to my dedication and willingness to succeed. I have participated in multiple charity events including Mepham’s very own St. Baldrick’s where I shaved my head for pediatric cancer awareness. Contrary to my Vice President Kyla Saade, my height has also influenced me as a person and as a leader. Being taller than my peers growing up put me in the position to be looked up to and to be relied on in certain situations or for different tasks.
There are many issues in our nation today. One is the education system. The current graduation rate in America is 84.1%. This is a steady improvement because 7 years ago it was only 68%. As president I want to continue to increase this number. It is important to me that the students of this country complete their high school education. They are the future leaders of this country and we want them to have the most knowledge and understanding of the world. Additionally, throughout America there is inequality in education from wealthy to poor communities. For example on Long Island the graduation rate for Manhasset High School, which is a wealthy community is 100%. The graduation rate for Hempstead High School, which is a lower income community is 47%. Students who are located in higher-income towns have access to guidance counselors, school psychologists, personal laptops, new textbooks, and more tools that help them learn. The students who live in poverty areas do not have access to these things meanwhile they tend to have more students in need of extra help and tutors. These poor areas have schools with low paid teachers, broken down buildings, and less faculty to help students. Students in less wealthy districts are suspended more frequently because they do not have the staff or time to work with misbehaving students, resulting in suspending or expelling them right way, rather than working on issues. As president I want to help improve education in our lower income communities. I want students to have equal opportunities in their schools. It is not fair that some students have a disadvantage just because of where they live. I want all the students of this country to have all the resources they need to learn and grow. The economy of the United States is worrisome because our country as of December 31, 2018, is standing at a total 21.9 trillion dollars in debt. Two thirds of that debt is held by the public. The government owes this to buyers of U.S. Treasury Bills, notes and bonds. The treasury owes this money to the Government Account Securities, such as Social Security. The reason why the national debt is so high in the U.S. is an accumulation of federal budget deficits. Almost 800 billion dollars a year is spent for military spending. The federal budget is 3.8 trillion dollars, while we are only taking in 2.4 trillion dollars. As your president, I will cut military overspending, along with creating more jobs in order to gain more revenue through taxes. I will not make taxes higher, but I will taking cues and tactics from other countries as a way to decrease our debt. Although an outstanding number, and the hardships that we will face trying to combat our economy may be unmotivating, as your president, my party and I will do our absolute best to tackle our nation's economical issues. According to the FBI data, There are 150 Americans were arrested for planning to engage in acts of domestic terrorism in 2017, compared to international suspects. In 2018 the ration was 120 to 100. A FBI official stated that there was a decrease in arrests of potential terrorists inspired by ISIS or Al - Qaeda in 2018 can be attributed to a growing number of Americans attempting to join the Islamic state abroad. After the horrible attack on September 11th, U.S. troops were sent into Afghanistan to dismantle Al - Qaeda. The goal was to remove power from the Taliban and it was successful. From 2010 to 2012, when the U.S. had as many as 100,000 soldiers in the country, the price for American taxpayers surpassed $100 Billion each year. There are currently 16,000 troops U.S. in Afghanistan. I believe that foreign policy should be more overlooked. The acts of terrorism needs to stop and cannot be stopped. There needs to be more of a balance of power among nations. Along with the help of Department of Defense I Connor Molloy will make sure to create that balance of power among Nations. Americans should vote for me because I am the best choice for president. I am a strong leader, sincere, and hard working. I want to solve the issues of this country and improve the quality of Americas well being. I have many goals for this country that I will achieve as president. I will work on the foreign policy of this country, improve the education system, and fix the economy. Vote for me to be your next president to see the results that you want in this country. Thank you. |
